Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo painting returns to public view

The rare 1895 painting ‘Prati e colline della Val Curone’ by divisionist master Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo is returning to public view. After remaining in a private collection for decades, the work reappeared on the market in 2025.

Echampe Art Gallery of Alessandria will present the piece during the BE ART 2026 event, scheduled for September 25–27 at the Castello di Belgioioso in the province of Pavia. The painting is noted as one of the artist’s early examples of ‘pure landscape,’ characterized by a balance of horizontal and vertical lines and a careful study of shadows.
