Giuseppe Pizzolante Re‑elected President of Paesi dei Nebrodi Union, Eighth Term

The council of the Union of Municipalities “Paesi dei Nebrodi” was reconvened after the May 2026 local elections in San Salvatore di Fitalia, Sicily. The three member towns—San Salvatore di Fitalia, Capri Leone and San Marco d’Alunzio—unanimously re‑elected mayor Giuseppe Pizzolante as president of the Union for the eighth consecutive term since its founding in 2007. The council also chose Daniele Monici of San Marco d’Alunzio as council president and Stefania Munastra of Capri Leone as vice‑president.

San Salvatore di Fitalia, the town where Pizzolante serves as mayor, lies on a coastal hill at 603 m altitude and has a resident population of about 1,260 people. The municipality covers 14.99 km² and has seen a steady decline in inhabitants since the 1970s. The Union focuses on joint tourism promotion, school services, civil‑protection resources and shared vehicle fleets.

Pizzolante emphasized the continuity of the inter‑municipal project and thanked the mayors of Capri Leone and San Marco d’Alunzio for their confidence, pledging to continue work on tourism, emergency services and communal infrastructure.
