Giuseppe Vaccari, longtime CSI leader, dies at 88

Giuseppe Vaccari, a prominent figure in the Italian sporting community, has passed away at the age of 88. Vaccari served as the president of the Centro Sportivo Italiano (CSI) in Reggio Emilia from 1976 until 2018, later holding the title of honorary president.

Under his leadership, the CSI Reggio Emilia grew significantly, increasing its membership from approximately 5,000 to over 50,000 participants across various disciplines. He was particularly noted for his dedication to the ‘Torneo della Montagna’ (Mountain Tournament), an initiative he viewed as a vital social tool to revitalize mountain communities through sport.
