Giuseppe Valditara awards student for stopping school attack in Rome

Italian Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara has awarded a medal of merit to a student for his intervention during a violent attack at the Giovanni Verga middle school in Centocelle, Rome.

The incident occurred on September 18, when a 13-year-old student allegedly sprayed an irritant spray at a teacher and attempted to attack her with a knife. The student being honored is credited with stepping in to stop the aggressor.

Valditara praised the student’s actions as an “example of courage and solidarity,” stating that such noble gestures serve as an educational model for other young people. The Minister emphasized that these values are fundamental to a school system that teaches responsibility, respect, and empathy.
