Feyenoord rejects Nottingham Forest's opening bid for defender Givairo Read

Nottingham Forest, a Premier League club, announced that it will submit an official opening offer for 20‑year‑old right‑back Givairo Read on Thursday. Feyenoord, the Dutch club that holds Read under contract until the summer of 2029, immediately rejected the initial bid, signalling that any transfer will only proceed if the financial terms meet their expectations.

Read, who emerged from Feyenoord's academy and played 54 senior matches this season, is widely regarded as one of the Eredivisie's most coveted young defenders. Besides Forest, clubs such as Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Paris FC and Lille have shown interest. Feyenoord’s technical director Dévy Rigaux emphasized that the club retains a strong negotiating position given the long‑term contract.

The player himself said he does not feel compelled to leave Feyenoord and is focused on contributing to the team under new coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst, while also keeping an eye on a possible call‑up to the Dutch national team. He acknowledged that several clubs have approached him, but reiterated that his priority is to develop and help Feyenoord win the league.

The expected bid, estimated around €25 million by transfer‑market analysts, will determine whether the English side returns with a higher offer or if Feyenoord opts to keep the defender for the upcoming season.
