Giza Monorail Construction Triggers 5‑Hour Closure of 26 July Highway

The General Directorate of Traffic in Giza announced that construction of the Nile Valley–6 October monorail line will necessitate a complete closure of the entrance to the 26 July highway for traffic coming from Midan Lebanon and Sudan Street. The shutdown is scheduled for Friday, 31 July 2026, from 01:00 to 06:00 local time.

Drivers are advised to follow detour routes: vehicles from Midan Lebanon should continue on 26 July Street to Sudan Street, turn right onto Sudan Street, then right onto Ahmed El‑Araby Street, loop back and ascend the new Ahmed El‑Araby interchange to re‑join the 26 July highway after the works. Vehicles from Sudan Street should turn left onto Ahmed El‑Araby Street, loop back, and use the same interchange. Traffic services, signage and technical assistance will be deployed in coordination with the construction firms to ensure safety and smooth flow during the five‑hour closure.
