Gizela Jagielska applies for position at Wrocław specialist hospital

Gizela Jagielska has officially applied for a position at the A. Falkiewicz Specialist Hospital in Wrocław. The facility operates the largest gynecological and obstetric ward in Lower Silesia.

Jagielska’s candidacy has drawn significant opposition from pro-life groups. Her previous work involving abortions has been a subject of public debate, and in 2025, the Ordo Iuris Institute notified prosecutors and the Chief Professional Liability Commissioner regarding the circumstances of an abortion she performed.

Hospital Director Magdalena Puziewicz-Karpiak previously stated that the recruitment process would be open to all qualified candidates and evaluated on equal terms. The final decision rests with the selection committee, with results expected by September 30. Opponents of the appointment express concern that her presence could alter the operational profile of the maternity ward. A public prayer event is scheduled to take place in front of the hospital on September 20.
