Gjakova served as a major educational hub for Bihor during the 19th and 20th centuries
Historical research by Sait Shabotiq highlights the strong educational ties between the Bihor region and Kosovo during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. According to the work ‘Bihor na razmeđu vjekova (1878–1914)’, Gjakova served as a primary educational hub for young Muslims from Bihor.
While Peja and Prizren were also notable centers, Gjakova was central to the biographies of many students. For instance, Hajrullah Abdurahmanoviq – Skoko from Shipanja studied in Gjakova for approximately seven years, where he learned Arabic and the Albanian language before continuing his studies in Istanbul.
Another significant cultural figure, Ibrahim Paçariz Bioçaku (1852–1922), an imam and author of Alhamiado literature, also received his education in Gjakova after completing his initial studies in his homeland.
