Gjorgje Petrov municipality installs solar panels on all primary schools

The municipality of Gjorgje Petrov in North Macedonia has launched a public‑private partnership to equip the roofs of its seven municipal primary schools with modern photovoltaic systems. The project, described as the first of its kind in the country, will be financed without any additional burden on the municipal budget.

Under the agreement, the municipality will receive 18 % of the revenue generated from the electricity produced, with the proceeds earmarked for reinvestment in local projects. The initiative aims to provide clean, renewable energy, improve the energy efficiency of school facilities, reduce greenhouse‑gas emissions, and create a new source of income for the community.
