GKN Aerospace unveils Swedish UAV demonstrator
GKN Aerospace has unveiled a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) demonstrator in Trollhättan, Sweden, less than a year after the program's inception. Developed in collaboration with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and the Swedish Armed Forces, the project aims to produce a UAV demonstrator and a custom-designed turbojet engine within an 18-month timeframe.
The program, which began in November 2025, utilizes expertise from GKN Aerospace teams in Sweden, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. The demonstrator is designed as a flexible platform for testing future uncrewed aviation technologies and aims to build experience in manufacturing complex aerospace systems on accelerated schedules.
At the Armed Forces Air Venture 2026, the company is displaying a full-scale mock-up of the UAV and the dedicated turbojet engine. The next phase of the project will focus on further development and preparations for upcoming flight tests.
