Göksel Arsoy, Turkish cinema legend, dies at 90

Göksel Arsoy, a prominent figure in Turkish cinema known by the nickname 'Altın Çocuk' (Golden Boy), has passed away at the age of 90.

A funeral service was held at the Levent Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque in Istanbul, attended by family members, including his children Gökhan and Aşkım Arsoy, as well as figures from the political and arts communities. Following the prayer, Arsoy was laid to rest at the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.

Arsoy's career included notable works such as 'Samanyolu', 'Şafak Bekçileri', and the 'Altın Çocuk' series. He was also a recipient of the Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Prize. The Turkish Air Force sent a wreath to the ceremony in recognition of his role in the aviation-themed film 'Şafak Bekçileri'.

Birol Güven, Director General of Cinema at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, described Arsoy as part of a generation that left a 'priceless treasure' for the Turkish film industry. Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy also issued a condolence message, praising Arsoy's contributions to cinema.
