Göksel Arsoy, a prominent figure of the Yeşilçam era known as the ‘Altın Çocuk’ (Golden Boy), has passed away at the age of 90. His death was announced by his daughter, Aşkım Arsoy, via social media. 1936-born Arsoy was a celebrated actor and producer who rose to fame following his debut in the 1957 film ‘Kara Günlerim’ and achieved widespread recognition in the 1959 film ‘Samanyolu’ alongside Belgin Doruk.
According to family statements, Arsoy had not suffered from any major chronic illnesses in his final two years, though age-related vision issues had reduced his mobility and led to physical weakness. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. His funeral is expected to be held on Wednesday at the Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque, followed by burial at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
Arsoy’s career spanned decades, during which he starred in over 100 films and received numerous honors, including the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 36th Golden Orange Film Festival and the Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Award in 2024. Beyond acting, he was a dedicated sportsman, serving as the President of the Istanbul Tennis Club, and maintained a lifelong passion for aviation.
