Göksun hosts inaugural Honey Festival in Kahramanmaraş
The first Honey Festival was held in the Göksun district of Kahramanmaraş, organized through a collaboration between the Metropolitan Municipality, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Beekeepers Association. The event featured exhibitions of various honey types produced in the region, allowing citizens to taste products and receive information directly from producers.
A highlight of the festival was a honey-eating competition. Semih Göksunlu won first place by consuming approximately 1 kilogram of honey in the shortest time.
Local officials highlighted the importance of the sector, noting that Kahramanmaraş maintains approximately 105,000 beehives with an annual production of about 1,000 tons of honey. Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ramazan Bilir stated that nearly 15 million lira in support was provided to producers this year to encourage continued growth in the industry.
