Gladson Cameli denounces police operation and maintains Senate lead

Gladson Cameli, a former governor and Progressistas candidate for the Senate, has denounced the fourth phase of the Federal Police’s ‘Operação Ptolomeu’ as political persecution. In a public statement, Cameli claimed the operation, launched 13 days before the election, is based on evidence that had previously been annulled by the Supreme Federal Court due to illegality.

Cameli also alleged a prior leak of the operation to political opponents, noting that journalists and bloggers from opposing groups were positioned near his residence before police arrived. He cited Supreme Court jurisprudence, specifically ADPF 1017, which prohibits certain actions against candidates to prevent the electoral use of police operations. He attributed the timing of the investigation to his current standing in the polls.

Simultaneously, new polling data from Real Time Big Data indicates that Cameli maintains his lead in the Senate race. The candidate noted the results while campaigning in the Calafate neighborhood, stating that the polling reflects the recognition of his previous administration's work.
