Gladys Knight announces reduction in live performances

Legendary soul singer Gladys Knight has announced plans to reduce her live performances after a career spanning more than 75 years. In a statement shared on Instagram, the 82-year-old artist explained that she is transitioning into a new era of her life, intending to focus more on personal projects with her husband, William McDowell, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Knight clarified that she is not retiring completely but is easing into fewer performances. This decision follows recent public discussions regarding her health and touring schedule. While her son, Shanga Hankerson, had previously expressed concerns about her well-being during her recent tours, Knight refuted these claims, stating she is “healthy and happy.”

Her recent professional activities include the 2025 Queens Tour alongside Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, and Stephanie Mills, as well as her ongoing 2026 tour.
