Soul singer Gladys Knight has announced she will be easing into fewer performances to focus on her family, including her grandchildren, and new career ventures. The 82-year-old artist shared the decision via Instagram, stating she is transitioning into a new era of her life.

The announcement follows public speculation regarding her health after viral videos from recent performances, including an appearance at the Hollywood Bowl, showed her appearing confused or disoriented on stage. While Knight’s son, Shanga Hankerson, expressed concern over her health and touring schedule, Knight has refuted these claims, stating, “I’m healthy and happy.”

Knight’s husband and manager, William McDowell, also addressed the rumors, denying that she has been diagnosed with dementia. He acknowledged that she has “good days and bad” but maintains she is in good health. The couple reportedly plans to consult a doctor in the near future to address any potential cognitive concerns.
