Glamoč potato producers warn of counterfeit products on market

Producers from the ‘Glamočki krompir’ Association are warning consumers in Bosnia and Herzegovina about the presence of counterfeit potatoes being sold under their prestigious brand. Siniša Šolak, president of the association, stated that the market is currently flooded with products falsely labeled as Glamoč potatoes, even though the official harvest is not yet complete.

To ensure authenticity, producers urge customers to purchase only products featuring the official label and a QR code. This code allows consumers to scan and verify laboratory analyses conducted in cooperation with the Technical Faculty. The association emphasizes that they cannot guarantee the quality or safety of any product lacking these specific markings and visual identifiers.

Regarding the current season, Šolak noted that while a drought slightly reduced the yield to approximately two tons per hectare, the crop remains stable. Additionally, the association has collaborated with the Institute for Genetic Resources in Banja Luka to plant the first pilot plots of virus-free potato seedlings.
