Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games: Finucane and Nicholl chase historic milestones

Welsh track cyclist Emma Finucane, a 23‑year‑old Olympic champion, says she has "nothing to prove" as she heads to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games, aiming for her first gold after bronze medals in Birmingham 2022. Finucane highlighted the Games as a springboard for her career and noted that her partner, fellow cyclist Matt Richardson, will miss the event due to injury.

Scotland netball captain Emily Nicholl celebrated the team's best‑ever Commonwealth Games finish, following a 65‑56 loss to Uganda that set up a seventh‑place playoff against Malawi. Nicholl stressed that the historic performance should be used to grow the sport in Scotland and build on the momentum generated by large crowds at the Hydro arena.
