Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games unveil compact schedule and four venues

The organizers of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow released the official Session Schedule on 31 July 2025. The compact model concentrates competition within an eight‑mile corridor that links four main sport complexes, aiming to minimise travel for athletes and spectators.

The programme features 10 sports and six para‑sports across 215 medal events, with an expected participation of around 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories. Competition will begin on 24 July, a day after the opening ceremony, with powerlifting slated to award the first medal – the first time a para‑sport will open the medal tally. Other opening‑day events include artistic gymnastics and swimming. The Scotstoun Stadium will host athletics, marking the return of the Commonwealth Mile for the first time since 1966.

The schedule comprises 50 sport sessions and 30 medal sessions spread over the Games, which run from late July into August 2026.
