Glasgow City Council moves to protect Queen’s Park Glasshouse
Glasgow City Council has approved a Scottish Green amendment aimed at protecting the Queen’s Park Glasshouse from permanent closure. The historic venue had previously faced shutdown due to unsustainable running costs.
The amendment, proposed by councillor Holly Bruce, mandates a transparent public consultation and requires a report within six months. It also calls for feasibility studies, the identification of restoration funding for the building and its dome, and the implementation of net-zero improvements to lower long-term heating costs. The measure is intended to ensure continued public access and community engagement for the Southside landmark.
