Glasgow City Council to sell former schoolhouses and ex‑library
Glasgow City Council plans to dispose of five former public properties – two former schoolhouses, an ex‑library and two other homes – through its arms‑length company City Property Glasgow (Investments) LLP. The properties include the former St Francis Primary schoolhouse on Old Rutherglen Road, a three‑bedroom bungalow; the ex‑schoolhouse at Carmichael Place in Battlefield, a two‑bedroom house built in 1912; a 1990s five‑bedroom bungalow that was the Mosspark public library; a late‑1990s five‑bedroom bungalow on Fettes Street, Cranhill; and a four‑bedroom flat on Clarence Drive, Hyndland. All are expected to be leased to Glasgow’s Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) after the sale, with existing tenancy arrangements with Thenue Housing Association remaining unchanged. The council will renounce its lease to Thenue and the new lease will be taken directly by HSCP, while external valuations of the properties will be obtained.
