Glasgow mother appeals for blood donations after transfusion saves premature daughter

Caitlyn Stewart has issued a public appeal for blood donations after a small amount of blood saved her premature daughter's life. Millie, who was born weighing only 670 grams in February, spent ten weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

After receiving two transfusions totaling approximately 46 milliliters—the equivalent of three tablespoons—Millie showed immediate improvement. Her mother noted that the infant's skin color returned to a healthy red after appearing lethargic and pale. The story comes amid reports of a significant decrease in blood reserves in several countries.
