Glasgow Warriors defeat Sale Sharks in Champions Cup opener

Glasgow Warriors secured a 47-27 bonus-point victory over Sale Sharks in their Investec Champions Cup opener. Despite Sale taking an early 12-point lead through tries from Ben Curry and Arron Reed, Glasgow responded with a penalty try and efforts from Kyle Steyn and Jamie Dobie to lead 21-15 at halftime.

Glasgow dominated the second half, scoring late tries through Rory Darge, Ollie Smith, and debutant Tavi Tuipulotu to pull away. The match featured notable debuts for Ruwald van der Merwe and Tavi Tuipulotu, who became the 380th and 381st players to represent the Warriors.

The victory was a significant family milestone for the Tuipulotu brothers, as Sione Tuipulotu was named Player of the Match while Tavi scored on his debut. The game began with a minute of silence for former Sale Sharks lock Hyron Andrews, who passed away recently.
