Glass art exhibitions announced for Hermitage Museum and Venice
The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg will host the exhibition ‘Lines of Light’ in the Apollo Hall starting October 24, 2026. The showcase focuses on the technical process of creating small-format heraldic stained glass, specifically highlighting designs from various Swiss regional schools ranging from Zurich to Bern. Rather than focusing solely on finished windows, the exhibition displays engraved templates and preparatory drawings to illustrate the transition from initial concept to technical execution.
In Venice, the ‘Murano Illumina il Mondo’ light exhibition is running at the Procuratie Vecchie in St. Mark’s Square until November 1, 2026. As part of the tenth Venice Glass Week, the installation features twelve light fixtures created by international artists in collaboration with Murano glass manufacturers. These works, inspired by the Venetian chandelier form, bring Murano’s island-based glassmaking traditions to the city's historic center.
