Glass art mosaic created by students for Liberec Zoo

Approximately 50 students from various technical schools collaborated to create ‘Šelmárium’, a large-format glass mosaic measuring 4.6 by 1.8 meters. The artwork, which depicts stylized feline predators, now decorates the facade of the predator pavilion at Liberec Zoo.

The project was organized by the Secondary School of Glass Industry in Kamenický Šenov, the world’s oldest glass school, which is currently experiencing a rise in student enrollment. Other participating institutions included the Higher Vocational School of Glassmaking, the Secondary School in Nový Bor, and the Secondary School of Crafts and Services in Jablonec nad Nisou.

In addition to providing students with practical experience in public art, the initiative highlights growing interest in glassmaking and artistic crafts within the Liberec Region. The mosaic was unveiled during Crystal Valley Week.
