The Tamil Nadu government has completed the restoration of the 200-year-old Glass Palace located near Arani in the Tiruvannamalai district. Built in a European architectural style by local ruler Jagir Thirumalai Rao, the structure had fallen into significant disrepair due to neglect and the theft of architectural elements such as glass panels and iron frames.

In 2021, the Arani Forest Range Forest Department took control of the site, fenced the premises, and designated it a protected area. The current renovation, managed by the Public Works Department, is in its final stages and is expected to be completed within days. Local residents and historians have advocated for the site to be developed as a formal tourist destination to preserve its historical significance.
