Glastonbury Festival announces record ticket prices and new buying system

Glastonbury Festival has announced that tickets for the 2027 event will cost £408, including a £5 booking fee. This marks the first time general admission has exceeded the £400 threshold, representing an approximate 8% increase from the £378.50 charged for the 2025 edition.

In addition to the price hike, organizers have implemented a significant change to the ticket-buying process. Previously, fans could join queues and enter registration numbers during the purchase phase. Under the new system, fans must enter their registration number first, which assigns them a unique place in the queue. This change appears designed to combat bots and touts and to make the process more democratic by discouraging the use of “syndicates,” where groups of people coordinate to increase their chances of securing multiple tickets.

While some attendees have criticized the rising costs, others argue the price is reasonable for a five-day event featuring major international acts. General admission tickets are scheduled to go on sale at 9am on Sunday, October 4.
