Gölbaşı Gölü attracts visitors with new boat tours
Gölbaşı Gölü, located in the Kırıkhan district of Hatay, is attracting nature enthusiasts and photographers through newly organized boat tours. The 792-hectare lake, which is officially registered as a “Wetland of National Importance” by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, is characterized by its surface covered in water lily leaves.
Since June, private companies have been organizing boat tours to promote the area, with trips scheduled for early mornings and sunsets. These tours typically last between 15 and 30 minutes. Boat captain Tayfur Açık noted that the tours have increased visitor numbers, with capacity reaching approximately 35-40 passengers per boat on weekdays and up to 100 on weekends.
In addition to its visual appeal, the lake serves as a habitat for migratory birds during the spring months, making it a significant site for biodiversity and eco-tourism.
