Gölbaşı Municipality promotes alternative crops to boost agricultural economy

Gölbaşı Municipality is working to enhance the district's agricultural potential by introducing alternative crops to create sustainable income sources for farmers. Following the successful support of buckwheat production, the municipality has completed the harvest of black cumin, which was planted in April in the Bahçelievler neighborhood.

Black cumin is noted for its versatility, with applications in the food, cosmetic, oil, livestock, and medicinal industries. The initiative aims to expand the production of high-value crops that are suitable for the local climate and soil conditions while maintaining low production costs. Mayor Yakup Odabaşı stated that the municipality views agriculture as a vital component of economic growth and local employment.
