Gülbahar Hatun School faces serious structural safety risks in Tokat

Ercan Özel, the Tokat branch president of Eğitim Sen, has issued a safety warning regarding the Gülbahar Hatun Primary and Middle School building. The facility, which has been in use since 2022, reportedly suffers from serious physical deficiencies and structural risks.

According to Özel, the school's entrance stairs and surrounding areas have experienced collapses, leading to the closure of the main entrance. Students are currently being directed through a side door. Additionally, the Atatürk bust and the Turkish flag in the ceremony area are at risk of falling due to ground subsidence.

Further reports indicate that the basement and ground floors suffer from water infiltration during rainfall, and concrete fragments are peeling off the basement walls. Despite efforts by the school administration, the Provincial Directorate of National Education has reportedly not yet taken concrete action to address these safety concerns.
