Gölcük Saygınlar Kulübü facilitates social and health services for seniors

The Gölcük Saygınlar Kulübü, established by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, has become a significant social hub in the Gölcük district of Kocaeli, Turkey. Operating seven days a week, the center hosts between 50 and 100 visitors daily, providing a space for social interaction and health-related activities.

Managed by the Department of Health and Social Services, the club offers various programs including blood pressure monitoring, sports activities, and health education. These services aim to support the physical and mental well-being of its members.

Local resident Esma Şahin highlighted the center's impact on social connections, noting that she reunited with a friend she had not seen in 30 years at the club. Şahin described the center as a vital part of her daily life and a place to foster new friendships. Plans are underway to expand this service to all 12 districts of Kocaeli to support lifelong learning and intergenerational interaction.
