Gleb Czugunow suffers shoulder injury during Swedish speedway match

Speedway rider Gleb Czugunow suffered a shoulder injury during a Bauhaus-Ligan match between Eskilstuna Smederna and Dackarna Malilla. The 26-year-old, who holds a Polish passport, was forced to leave the track in an ambulance following a crash in the sixth heat. Initial medical assessments indicate a dislocated shoulder.

The injury comes at a critical time for Czugunow’s club, Moonfin Magnus Ostrów, which is currently fighting to avoid relegation in the Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga. Following a 41:49 loss in the first play-down match against Krosno, Ostrów must win their home rematch on September 20 to secure their position.

Ostrów coach Tomasz Gapiński has attempted to calm supporters, noting that Czugunow typically requires about a week of rest to return to racing. Even if the injury proves more severe, the club maintains the option to use a replacement rider. It is noted that Czugunow has dealt with chronic shoulder issues and is expected to undergo surgery after the conclusion of the season.
