Glen Abbott honored for St John Ambulance service on Isle of Wight
Glen Abbott, a St John Ambulance volunteer on the Isle of Wight, has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his leadership and service to the community. The award was presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Susie Sheldon, during a ceremony at the Royal Yacht Squadron on September 1.
Abbott stepped into the role of Network Lead following a period of national organizational change, providing stability for volunteers. Under his leadership, the Isle of Wight team provided over 1,600 hours of first aid at community events. Additionally, youth volunteer numbers increased by 30 per cent, and more than 275 residents received emergency first aid training through initiatives he supported.
