Glen Innes Magpies win premiership in extra time over Hawks

The Glen Innes Magpies secured the premiership after defeating the Inverell Hawks in a match that required extra time. The regulation period ended in a 10-10 draw after the Magpies overcame an early 8-0 deficit led by the Hawks.

During the two five-minute extra-time periods, Mary Arandale scored a penalty goal to give the Magpies a 12-10 lead. She subsequently scored the decisive try to finalize the score at 16-10. Magpies co-captain Ebony Gallagher expressed pride in the team's performance following the victory.

Inverell Hawks captain Kearni Reynolds praised the Magpies' strength and noted her own team's progress from the bottom of the table the previous year. Additionally, Inverell's Tori Jones was named joint rookie of the year, and club president Ethan Anderson accepted the shield for the club championship.
