Glen Innes woman charged with drink-driving after domestic violence sentencing

A woman appeared in Glen Innes Local Court after being charged with high-range drink-driving on the same day she was sentenced for domestic violence involving her daughter.

Acting Judge Sharron Crews noted that the domestic violence charges stemmed from an altercation where the daughter attempted to prevent the woman from driving while intoxicated. Despite being sentenced to good behaviour bonds that morning, police observed the woman leaving a New England pub late that night. A roadside breath test subsequently returned a reading of 0.207.

Judge Crews stated that the woman breached two conditional release orders on the same day she attended court, warning that her actions placed the community at serious danger. The woman’s solicitor, Emma Chaffey, noted that the defendant had shown immediate remorse through an early guilty plea.
