Glen Matlock documentary on Sex Pistols to release in Japan

The documentary film ‘I Was A Teenage Sex Pistol’ will be released in Japan on October 2, 2025, offering a perspective on the Sex Pistols through the eyes of original bassist Glen Matlock. The film is based on Matlock’s book and aims to provide a more balanced view of the band’s history, contrasting with previous depictions that often centered on Sid Vicious.

Promotional footage has been released detailing the creation of the punk anthem ‘Anarchy in the U.K.’ Matlock describes how the song emerged in a studio session after he began playing bass to prompt ideas from the band. The documentary features interviews with various figures and includes archival footage of the band.

A special preview screening with a stage greeting is scheduled for September 24 in Japan.
