Glendale brothers rescue six seniors from burning care home
Two brothers, Alex Bazinyan, 20, and Narek Bazinyan, 15, rescued six elderly residents from a burning assisted living facility in Glendale, California, on Friday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 4:45 p.m. on the 1800 block of Mountain Street. Upon seeing thick smoke and hearing nurses calling for help, the brothers entered the building. Alex reported finding several seniors on the floor with injuries, and the brothers worked to evacuate them one by one. Two neighbors also joined the effort to move the residents to a front lawn.
The Glendale Fire Department stated that an oxygen tank likely exploded, causing part of the structure to collapse shortly after the final person was rescued. Seven people sustained minor injuries during the incident. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze before it could spread to nearby homes. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
