Glendale ICE Arrests Spark Viral Outcry

On July 29, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained 21‑year‑old Michael Steven Arias‑Villanueva, a Colombian illegal immigrant with a record of burglary and theft, in Glendale, California. A video of the arrest shows him shouting “Mama” and pleading for help in Spanish before being placed in a white SUV and taken to the Desert View ICE facility in Adelanto.

In a separate but similarly filmed incident, a teenager was forced into an unmarked vehicle by masked agents in the same neighborhood. The teen repeatedly begged for his mother in Spanish while bystanders were warned not to intervene. Both videos spread widely on social media, prompting criticism of ICE’s tactics, calls for greater transparency, and renewed debate over immigration enforcement policies.
