Glenmorangie and The Glenlivet announce new limited-edition whisky releases

Glenmorangie has announced the release of its oldest whisky to date, the Glenmorangie 50 Years Old. Distilled in the mid-1970s using barley from the distillery’s former floor maltings, the spirit was matured in bourbon hogshead casks and first-fill Oloroso sherry butts. Master Distiller Dr Bill Lumsden MBE selected a specific parcel of whisky in 1999 to undergo an extended 25-year maturation in a single refill hogshead barrel. The release is limited to 149 numbered bottles, priced at £25,800 each.

Separately, The Glenlivet has introduced the 12 Year Old Provence Edition, a limited-edition single malt inspired by Southern France. This expression uses The Glenlivet 12 Year Old as a base and is finished in a combination of Château Sainte Marguerite white wine, Rivesaltes, and Sauternes casks. The release is part of the brand’s ‘Beyond Speyside’ series, which utilizes cask finishing to incorporate international flavor profiles into Scotch whisky.
