Glenn Greenwald criticizes Flávio Dino over censorship ruling

Journalist Glenn Greenwald criticized Brazilian Supreme Federal Court Minister Flávio Dino, accusing him and the Brazilian left of hypocrisy regarding freedom of expression. Greenwald’s comments followed Dino’s decision to overturn a previous order by Superior Electoral Court (TSE) Vice President André Mendonça.

Mendonça had originally ordered the removal of social media posts related to Flávio Bolsonaro, specifically those discussing a proposal to change the title of the patron saint, Nossa Senhora Aparecida. Dino’s ruling allowed the content to remain, citing that the subject was already part of public debate. Greenwald argued that the political left is pretending to oppose censorship while having previously supported extremist measures to combat fake news.
