Glenn Hughes Retires from Live Shows, Plans Open‑Heart Surgery

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Glenn Hughes, 74, announced his retirement from touring and live performances after doctors advised he undergo another open‑heart surgery. In a social‑media statement he said, “This past year, I’ve had some health issues… the results from numerous MRIs, CT scans and an echocardiogram have alerted my medical team that I need another open‑heart surgery. I really have no option and no choice as health is my number one priority.”

Hughes cancelled all upcoming dates, including the Oct 2, 2026 Purple Daisies show at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California. His final concert took place on May 30, 2026 at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois, where he performed with The Dead Daisies under the banner The Purple Daisies. Earlier in January he had also called off a six‑week U.S. spring tour citing a “minor health issue.”

The former Deep Purple, Trapeze, Black Sabbath and Black Country Communion vocalist/bassist highlighted his gratitude to fans, saying, “Grateful to have been chosen with a life full with the gift of music… Thank you for walking beside me.”
