Glenn Phillips eyes T20I world record against India

New Zealand batsman Glenn Phillips is positioned to break the world record for the most runs in a five-match bilateral T20I series during the final match against India in Hamilton. Following a match-winning 107 runs off 49 balls in the fourth T20I, Phillips has amassed 276 runs in the current series.

To surpass the existing record of 331 runs set by England’s Phil Salt against the West Indies in 2023, Phillips requires 56 runs in the upcoming fixture at Seddon Park. He currently sits ahead of Mohammad Rizwan and Mark Chapman in the all-time rankings for bilateral T20I series scoring.

Phillips attributed his recent form to his experience with the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite limited playing time in the 2026 season, he noted that the high level of competition and the quality of coaching and facilities provided significant professional development.
