Glens of Antrim Potatoes enters administration after 54 years

Glens of Antrim Potatoes Ltd, a Northern Ireland-based company operating for 54 years, has entered administration and ceased trading. The company, which was based in Cushendall and Ballymena, supplied potatoes and crisps to major retailers including Tesco and Sainsbury’s across the UK and Ireland.

Rising costs within the agri-food sector led to significant cash flow challenges for the business. Although directors attempted to secure new investment or refinancing, these efforts were unsuccessful. Following the appointment of joint administrators from Interpath on September 21, the company immediately stopped operations.

The collapse has resulted in nearly all of the company’s 95 employees being made redundant, with only a small number retained to assist with the administration process.
