Accidents in Rijeka and Ribarići involve balcony collapse and glider fire
Two separate incidents involving property damage and injuries occurred in the Balkan region.
In Rijeka, Croatia, a balcony collapsed from an abandoned historical villa on Šetalište XIII. divizije near Hotel Jadran. Firefighters conducted a difficult hour-long rescue operation to extract two minors from under the concrete debris. The individuals were transported to KBC Rijeka; while they sustained injuries, they are reported to be out of life-threatening danger. Records indicate the villa's owner is a Dubai-based real estate professional, and the property has reportedly been in a state of decay for years.
In Ribarići, Serbia, an expensive glider caught fire and partially sank at Pazarska plaža on Lake Gazivode. Witnesses reported seeing an unidentified young man leaving the vessel immediately before the fire broke out. Police are investigating the cause of the fire and attempting to identify the owner of the vessel, which featured a high-value engine.
