Gülistan Doku investigation reveals missing cafe security footage
New details have emerged in the investigation into the disappearance of Gülistan Doku, a Munzur University student who has been missing since January 5, 2020, in Tunceli. While security footage showing Doku arriving at and leaving the cafe where she worked on January 4, 2020, is included in the case file, recordings from the upper floor—the area where she was specifically responsible for working—are missing.
The cafe owner and the company that installed the security system both confirmed that approximately 15 cameras were in operation at the time, including those on the upper floor. The owner stated that they had informed police about the upper-floor cameras during the initial investigation but remains unaware if the footage was ever collected. The absence of these specific recordings has hindered the ability to determine if suspect Mustafa Türkay Sonel was present at the establishment on that date.
Meanwhile, a specialized 30-person team consisting of JAK and JASAT units is conducting search operations across a 150-kilometer area using underground imaging devices. To date, no findings have been reported. The ongoing investigation involves 38 individuals currently on trial, including former local administrative officials and law enforcement officers.
