Glitre Nett introduces new tariff for heavy transport electrification
Glitre Nett and the Grønt Landtransportprogram (GLP) have introduced a new voluntary grid tariff designed to incentivize the nighttime charging of heavy vehicles and construction machinery. The tariff aims to reduce costs for transport companies while optimizing the use of the existing power grid.
Under the new model, the price for power usage is reduced to half the standard rate between 22:00 and 06:00, while daytime rates increase by 50 percent. This structure provides a clear economic incentive for businesses to shift high-energy consumption, such as depot charging for heavy trucks and battery trailers, to hours when grid load is lowest.
The tariff applies to customers with an annual electricity consumption exceeding 100,000 kWh and requires a dedicated meter. The initiative follows work by GLP to address existing tariff models that did not account for the specific needs of the transport industry, where high grid fees have been identified as a barrier to the electrification of heavy transport.
