Gliwice court lifts supervision for farmer who plowed asphalt
A court in Gliwice has partially ruled in the case of Józef Magiera, a 60-year-old farmer who gained national attention after plowing approximately 200 meters of newly laid asphalt in the Ostropa district in August.
On October 1, the District Court in Gliwice lifted the police supervision and bail requirements previously imposed on Magiera. However, the court declined his request to return his 45-year-old Ursus tractor, which was seized during the incident. The court has requested additional documentation to prove the vehicle is essential for his daily agricultural work.
The dispute stems from a disagreement over land ownership. Magiera claims the asphalt was laid illegally on his private property, while the prosecution maintains that official documentation identifies the land as municipal property. Magiera faces charges for the destruction of property.
