Gliwice expands cycling infrastructure and regional routes

Gliwice is expanding its cycling infrastructure through new traffic organization on Gwarków Street and the development of regional bicycle route 603.

On Gwarków Street, a new traffic setup has been implemented to allow cyclists to ride against the flow of traffic. To ensure safety, a 'Tempo 30' zone has been established with speed limits restricted to 30 km/h, supported by island speed bumps to discipline drivers. This project, requested via the Civic Budget, aims to balance the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, and local logistics for nearby residential and commercial areas.

Additionally, the city has secured nearly 11 million PLN to complete missing sections of bicycle route 603 between 2026 and 2028. Following the path of a former narrow-gauge railway, the project includes constructing new segments, such as a 1.5-kilometer stretch between Knurowska and Łanowa streets, and improving signage on existing sections. The route is part of a larger regional network intended to connect Siewierz, Tarnowskie Góry, Gliwice, Rybnik, and Wodzisław Śląski.
