Global 5G and 6G telecommunications markets projected to see significant growth
The global 5G infrastructure market is projected to reach $122.64 billion by 2034. This growth is being driven by government support through spectrum allocation and financial incentives, alongside rising demand from the Internet of Things (IoT) and enterprise sectors. India is expected to be the fastest-growing major market with a compound annual growth rate of 32.4% between 2026 and 2034.
Looking toward future technology, GSMA Intelligence projects that global 6G connections will reach 2.4 billion by 2035. The rollout is expected to occur in two phases: an initial period from 2030 to 2032 focused on ecosystem establishment, followed by global-scale operations starting in 2033.
While 6G adoption grows, it is not expected to replace 5G immediately. By 2035, 5G is forecast to still account for 60% of global connections, while 6G will hold a 23% share. China is anticipated to be a dominant force in the 6G market, projected to account for over half of all global connections by 2035.
