IATA reports global air cargo demand up 8.5% in June 2026
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said global air cargo demand rose 8.5% year‑on‑year in June 2026, measured in cargo tonne‑kilometers (CTK). Capacity increased 4.4% over the same period, lifting the load factor to 46.9%.
North America was the strongest contributor, with demand up 13.1% YoY, while Asia‑Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America all posted positive growth. The surge was driven by shipments of high‑value technology products and urgent freight. IATA warned that risks remain, notably the continuing conflict in the Middle East and the possibility of renewed U.S. tariff measures. Jet fuel prices fell 20% month‑on‑month in June but stayed about 45.8% above a year earlier.
